Description

A picturesque precinct showcasing the banks of the beautiful Derwent River. For picnickers, it has 2 separate barbecue areas equipped with weatherproof shelter, electric BBQs and ample tables with seating.  Even simpler, grab some food from High Street and walk down to the Esplanade.  It has open spaces for walks, outdoor activities and children's play. There are public toilets on site as well.

Come and greet the local duck population and watch the fisherman trying their luck. This part of the river is popular for water-based activities such as stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and rowing during the warmer months. During Autumn you'll be delighted by the changing colours of the trees and in Spring marvel at the new growth and colours of the blossoming trees and shrubs.

At any time of the year, you can venture down past the Caravan Park and then take the walk up rock steps for the best views and photos of the river.  You can then head back to High Street or continue your walk along the riverside to Tynwald Park.
