Makers On High Street (MOHS) was born during COVID-19. The concept behind this business was basically to provide a venue for local artisans & makers to sell their products as all the markets had been forced into lockdown. It was a mechanism by which marketeers including the owners of MOHS, Val Holliday (Whimsical Indulgence) & Wendy Finning (Schmancy Pants Designs)could continue to have an income from the purchase of their art and crafts.
The invitation was sent out to other local artisans & makers to join their shop and enable them to do likewise. The premises currently hold creations from 20 artisans & makers but is sold by Wendy & Val which means that 13 to 14 customers could be in the premises at any given time during acute social distancing periods. The concept has proven to be successful and currently provides an income to those 20 local people and their families. MOHS also promotes other local businesses in-store and on Social Media, to, "support our community...".
