People of the Valley

Marg Cranney

Marg Cranney fell in love with the Derwent Valley in the 1990s when exploring the Tassie wilderness. For 30 years her Tassie holidays were spent, at first, bushwalking, then volunteering on the Orange-bellied Parrot summer monitoring program and always relishing the delights of Tassie’s fine food and wine. After dreaming of living in Tassie for decades, in 2016 Marg moved from Canberra to New Norfolk.

Marg is a trainer, facilitator and writer and runs her own business, Marg Cranney & Associates. She has the good fortune of being able to do most of her work online from home while enjoying life in the Valley and living so close to her favourite National Park. Mt Field.

Joining the New Norfolk Lions Club in 2018 to meet people and to make a contribution has been very rewarding. Marg appreciates the camaraderie and the Lions commitment to service. Within the Club, Marg has responsibility for media and social media and enjoys writing the Lions Club weekly columns in the Derwent Valley Gazette and posts on their Facebook page. In 2019, Marg was elected to the Board of Directors and in 2020/21 will serve as 2nd Vice President. Marg was also a member of New Norfolk Neighbourhood Watch in from 2018 to June 2020.

“This is an exciting time to live in the Valley. There seems to be so much happening. I look forward to joining in and celebrating life in the Valley for years to come!”
