School is out, but don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! Winter is the perfect time for some fairy spotting in #DerwentValleyTasmania. Here's some clues they often leave for us:

🌿 ferns = ladders
πŸ„ fungi = shelters
πŸ¦‹ butterflies = wings
🐦 bird feathers = beds
🌳 tree hollows = gateways to magical lands

Fairy spotting is also best tackled on a full belly so don't forget to stock up at the Banjo's New Norfolk Market on High Street before you head out! It's back open every Saturday 8 am to 2 pm.

πŸ“· Thank you @deni_cupit (IG) for sharing your top fairy spotting location with us! We've heard Mount Field National Park is a real hot spot. πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ

Take the road less travelled and explore #DerwentValleyTasmania through the township of Maydena to Strathgordon.

The Gordon River Road gives travellers a rare chance to experience one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the world. The scenery, regardless of the clouds that sometimes obscure the view through winter, is positively magnificent, with snow-covered mountains ahead and to either side for much of the journey.

The journey ends at Hydro Tasmania’s #GordonDam, the largest freshwater storage in Australia and which holds 27 times the volume of water in Sydney Harbour. The Gordon Power Station provides around 13 per cent of Tasmania's total power supply. You can walk the dam wall or abseil with Aardvark Adventures.

We recommend you #MakeYourselfAtHome Pedder Wilderness Lodge or Giants' Table and Cottages to take it all in! πŸ“· Thank you Aardvark Adventures for sharing such an epic shot!

Our address used to be Gordon River Road, so of course we had to drive to the end our road. Nice drive.
